Prepare to teach Spanish to children ages pre-kindergarten through high school.
Students in Ashland’s Spanish education program receive training in the Spanish language from our foreign languages department and develop their skills as a teacher in our education program, which is regarded as one of the best in Ohio.
When you major in Spanish Education at Ashland, you get outstanding training from two strong departments: Foreign Languages and Education. Approximately 50 percent will be focused in foreign languages and 40 percent in education and you will begin your experience in the classroom as an observer during your freshman year. By the time you graduate you will be confident of your ability to teach and ready to take charge of a classroom of students ready to learn a second language.

Gain Real World Experience
|
Your classroom experience begins during your freshman year when you observe and assist teachers. Prior to beginning your student teaching experience, you will already have at least 200 clock hours experience in the classroom, which is a real confidence builder.
Your student teaching experience, which occurs during your senior year, includes a minimum of 300 clock hours leading a Spanish class. With all this experience under your belt, you will be completely ready to teach in your own classroom when you graduate.
